We think you will enjoy many of these memories, messages, and the feature, the final graduating 8th grade class of West Point Independent School. We are very proud of all of our Pointers, and we appreciate all of our staff.

This film will first be available on Saturday, June 6, at 7pm.  If you are not able to view it at that time, the link will continue to be available here and on the West Point Facebook page.

April 28, 2020

The West Point Independent Board of Education Approves May 15, 2020 as the Last Day of School for the 2019-2020 School Year.

Tonight, during the West Point Independent School Board special meeting, board members approved May 15th as the last day for students for the 2019-2020 school year. June 1st was originally set as the last day for students in the school calendar.

On April 20th, Governor Beshear requested all public schools cease in-class instruction for the remainder of the school year due to COVID-19. Senate Bill 177, passed on March 16th, included a provision addressing the 1,062 student instructional hours guideline which is the minimum amount of instructional time that a school district must reach during the academic year.

West Point students will reach 1,062 student hours on May 15th and will have completed a total of 40 NTI days.

We will be communicating with parents/guardians details on the days to pick up personal items and turn in Chromebooks, along with any other materials requested by their teachers. Please continue to monitor social media and the district website for any changes or updates.

April 10, 2020

Dear West Point Families,

Due to the increased spread of Covid-19 and recent recommendations by Governor Andy Beshear and the Kentucky Department of Education, WPS will be making a couple of adjustments to our support for our West Point students. Please read below and call your child’s teacher or the main office (502) 922-4797 if you have questions or we can be of service to you.

Food Distribution

Beginning Monday April 13th, our food distribution will be limited to Monday and Thursday. Meals for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be distributed on Mondays and meals for Thursday and Friday will be distributed on Thursdays. The times and locations will remain the same. Limiting to these days will increase safety for our staff who have done an incredible job thus far. We want to decrease their exposure and keep them healthy!

Chromebooks

If your student needs the use of a Chromebook, please call the school office at (502) 922-4797 and speak with Penelope Helm or Pam Brown. We will be delivering these to your homes to help you stay “Healthy at Home”.

Above all, enjoy this Easter weekend and time with your family.

Dr. Sugg
